Blue Elegance is a designed as an introduction to Crewel work. It is a great project if you are comfortable with general embroidery stitches but are new to crewel work.
Blue Elegance was inspired by the fabulous foliage often seen in traditional Jacobean crewel work. To achieve a more contemporary look, the design is stitched in a fresh colour palette of aqua, blues and greens with highlights of raspberry pink.
The embroidery is stitched with a variety of mostly common embroidery stitches as well as a couple of laid trellis fillings which are so distinct to this type of work.
The kit includes everything you need to complete the embroidery and the detailed instructions and diagrams will help guide you step by step through the project.
The size of the fabric panel makes Blue Elegance suitable for a decorative pillow insert or you may like to use it as a decorative pocket on a work bag.
I hope you will get as much pleasure embroidering your Blue Elegance as I did.
Happy Stitching, Anna
