The pattern: Over the Pond is designed as an introduction to silk shading (long & short stitch). It is a good if you have have no prior experience, however some experience with general embroidery stitches is an advantage.
Lazy, late summer afternoons with the quiet buzz of insects filling the air and dragonflies dancing over a garden pond is what I was thinking of while stitching Over the Pond.
Bright and shiny dragonflies dance among cheerful buttercups in this circular design. Over the Pond is embroidered onto a pale sage green cotton using 13 shades of stranded silk. The glittering wings and cheerful buttercups are embroidered in silk shading (or long & short stitch), padded satin stitch in shades of bright turquoise is used for the dragonflies’ smooth and brightly coloured bodies and buttercup buds.
The embroidery design measures 19cm (7 1/2”) in diameter. The panel looks beautiful framed but is also the perfect size for a pretty pillow or a spectacular tote bag.
The Pattern Download includes: Step-by-step instructions with detailed diagrams and full size embroidery pattern. The detailed instructions and diagrams will help guide you step by step through the project. Please be aware that basic embroidery stitches are not described in detail, so you might find it helpful to have a stitch directory at hand.
I hope you will get as much pleasure embroidering your Over the Pond as I did.
Happy Stitching, Anna
