The embroidery design measures 22cm x 43cm wide (8 3/4” x 17”).
The kit includes all the materials needed to complete the embroidery. You can choose between the Basic Kit which includes the linen and full size pattern for you to transfer OR the Traced Kit where I will trace the design onto the linen for you.
I recommend Four Seasons for embroiders with some experience in fine embroidery and basic knowledge of metal thread embroidery.
The Embroidery Kit: Four Seasons takes inspiration from the many years I lived in our vineyard, watching the ever-changing beauty of the seasons; Spring brings tender and delicate growth, while summer boasts a dense canopy of leaves. Autumn is a vibrant explosion of colors, and winter reveals sparse, sculptural branches after trimming.
The leaves of the vines are depicted to show the Four Seasons using 12 different hues of Danish flower thread. Amongst the vines, there are two playful cockatoos and a curious magpie. The lower border is decorated with slender scrolls and stylized grapes, complemented by a silver border. The embroidery of Four Seasons is worked on a sturdy ivory linen fabric using mostly common surface stitches. The grapes are embroidered using silk thread in French knots, while the three birds are stitched in stranded cotton. The borders are embellished with silver metal threads, small paillettes, and beads to add highlights and texture.
The detailed instructions and diagrams will help guide you step-by-step through the project. Individual, basic stitches are not shown so you might find it helpful to have a stitch directory at hand – I always do.
