Purple Grace is the perfect project if you have no prior experience with Crewel work, however knowledge of embroidery stitches is required.
I had great fun with the colour scheme for Purple Grace, which as modern as it may look, was largely inspired by a large vintage crewel work design. The small size of Purple Grace makes it a manageable project, if you are new to this style of stitching or are looking for a quick project to do.
Purple Grace was created as a class project, focusing on working satin stitch and soft shading in crewel work. The bold flower is embroidered onto ivory linen using just 5 different stitches.
