The embroidery design measures 7.5cm (3”) in diameter.
Tulip Moon is the perfect project if you have no prior experience with goldwork embroidery. However, some knowledge of general embroidery is an advantage.
Tulips are one of my favorite flowers – the simple, elegant petals and slender leaves lending themselves perfectly for embroidery.
Tulip Moon was created specifically as an introduction to goldwork embroidery. The design uses a small variety of basic goldwork techniques and is ideal if you have little or no experience in metal thread embroidery.
The flower petals are embroidered in laid work, the center petal filled with chipping for added sparkle and coloured stranded silk and gold bead stamens complete the flowers. The detailed instructions and diagrams will help guide you step by step through the project.
You may wish to mount your finished piece into the lid of a small pot as I did but it looks equally pretty framed.
I hope you will get as much pleasure embroidering your Tulip Moon as I did.
Happy Stitching, Anna
