PDF Download - JACOBEAN LEAVES crewelwork pattern
$15.00
***Competent Stitcher - JACOBEAN LEAVES uses a wide variety of stitches, making it a great project if you have a bit of experience.
The embroidery design measures 19cm (7 1/2") square. I made my piece into a cushion, but it would be equally fabulous as a bag or framed piece.
The PDF pattern includes:
* Full size embroidery design
* Detailed step-by-step instructions
* Colour diagrams and close-up photographs.
You will need:
* 35cm (14") square of 45-count ivory linen (you may use good quality medium weight cotton)
* 13 crewel yarns
* no.4 crewel needle
* no. 22 tapestry needle
* 25cm (10") embroidery hoop, inner ring bound OR 35cm (14") square stretcher frame
Crewelwork lends itself beautifully to inventive stitching and there is really no limit to the choice of stitches. The vast possibilities of stitches used in crewelwork has long fascinated me. Instead of simply embroidering a sampler of stitches or individual leaves, I arranged them in a more complex design, reflecting the lush panels of the past.
The Twenty-one leaves are embroidered using 35 different stitches, most of which are common in surface embroidery. The detailed instructions and diagrams will help guide you but you may find it handy to have a good stitch directory at hand – I do.
I hope you will get as much pleasure embroidering your version of JACOBEAN LEAVES, as I enjoyed designing it.
